PA 6.6 (polyamide 6.6)
PA 6.6 has good stiffness, hardness, abrasion resistance and heat resistance.
Here, PA 6.6 offers advantages over PA 6. Compared to the cast variants, PA 6.6 shows higher moisture absorption. In terms of other properties, PA 6.6 is similar to cast PA 6, but about 60% more expensive.
Properties
The properties of PA 6.6 are:- high mechanical strength, stiffness, hardness and toughness
- good fatigue resistance
- high mechanical damping capacity
- good sliding properties
- very high wear resistance
- good electrical insulation properties
- high resistance to high-energy radiation (gamma and X-rays)
- good machinability
Applications
PA 6.6 can be used in the following areas:- Sliding elements and rollers
- Gears, switch gears and cams
- Guides, sliding plates
- Valve seats and bodies
Modification options
Modification by additives for the improvement of properties.- PA 6.6 CF20 (with 20% carbon fibers for an increased service temperature of 170°C)
- PA 6.6 GF30 (with 30% glass fibers for higher strength, stiffness, creep resistance and dimensional stability)
- Nylatron® GS* (with MoS² for higher stiffness, hardness and dimensional stability)
- Nylatron® 66 SA FR* (fire protection material with halogen-free flame retardant)
