PEEK (polyether ether ketone)

PEEK is a semi-crystalline, thermoplastic material.

The longest known and most important representative from the group of polyaryletherketones shows excellent sliding properties even under thermal stress in conjunction with very good mechanical properties. The excellent chemical resistance and high continuous operating temperature complete the profile and make PEEK an almost universally applicable material for heavily loaded parts.

Properties

The properties of PEEK are:
  • High mechanical strength, rigidity and creep resistance even at high temperatures
  • High upper service temperature limit (in air continuously up to 250 ° C, for a short time to 310 ° C.)
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Excellent hydrolysis resistance
  • Very high dimensional stability
  • Good UV resistance
  • Low smoke and inherent flame retardancy
  • Excellent resistance to high-energy radiation (gamma and x-rays)
  • Excellent wear resistance and good sliding properties

PEEK GF30

This 30% glass fibre reinforced grade has higher stiffness and creep resistance than unfilled PEEK and has much better dimensional stability. PEEK GF30 is ideal for parts which are exposed to long-term high static loads in the higher temperature range. Since the glass fibres tend to wear off the mating surface, the suitability of PEEK GF30 as a plain bearing material for each specific application should be carefully assessed in advance.

PEEK HPV

The addition of carbon fibres, PTFE and graphite yield a PEEK “slide bearing” type. Its excellent tribological properties (low coefficient of friction, high wear resistance and high PV limit) make this type the ideal material for parts subject to wear and friction.

PEEK CA30

This 30% carbon-fibre reinforced grade combines even higher stiffness, mechanical strength and creep resistance than PEEK GF30 with an optimal wear resistance. Moreover, the carbon fibres provide 3.5 times higher thermal conductivity than that of unfilled PEEK, which in sliding elements, the frictional heat is dissipated more quickly from the friction surface.

PEEK TX

PEEK TX has been specially developed for the food industry. Like PEEK, this new self-lubricating material has a composition adapted to contact with food, but offers far better wear and sliding properties. As a result, PEEK TX is particularly suitable for sliding and wear elements in temperatures ranging from 100 to 200 ° C.

PEEK ELS, nano

Properties

The properties of PEEK ID, blue are suitable for:

  • Applications whose machine speed requires high wear resistance or whose operating temperature is higher than 130 ° C
  • Machine parts that are repeatedly sterilized, mainly in CIP (Cleaning in Place) or SIP (Sterilization in Place) systems
  • Prefabricated parts that have a high rigidity without reinforcement and must be approved for contact with food
  • Precision parts with high dimensional stability
  • Applications with a balanced impact strength/stiffness ratio

Applications

PEEK ID, blue can be used in the following areas:

  • Filling pistons
  • Valves
  • Scrapers in cookers and high-temperature mixers

  • Round rods Ø 20/40 x 3000 mm
