Our high-quality finished parts made of engineering plastics come into contact with food in many applications, such as components in filling, mixing and portioning systems. We therefore offer a wide range of standard and high-performance plastics that comply with the regulations of both Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 and the US FDA. The aim of both regulations is to exclude harmful influences on food.
Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011
Regulation on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
The new Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 has been in force since 01.05.2011 and is part of Regulation (EU) No. 1935/2004. Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 contains a positive list in which the starting materials (monomers) and a substance list for the auxiliary materials (additives) are listed that may be used in the manufacture of plastics.
Implementation
If the desired prefabricated plastic part is to be delivered incl. declaration of conformity according to Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 or FDA, we require the clear specification with your order.
A subsequent issue of the certificate is not possible. The handling of articles incl. Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 is regulated at Kunststofftechnik Kuhn GmbH in DIN EN ISO 9001 (batch tracing). This ensures that the finished part is accompanied by a declaration of conformity from the corresponding material supplier upon delivery.
Good Manufacturing Practice
The raw material is processed in our company in accordance with the regulations of Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006 on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Metal and X-ray detectable plastics
In addition to the food-approved materials, our product range also includes metal- and X-ray-detectable plastics. The starting materials for these are POM, PEEK, PE and PA 6.
The metal- and X-ray-detectable materials enable manufacturers of food processing machines to handle the detection of damage and wear on machine parts made of the corresponding plastics more efficiently.
