PET (Polyethylene terephthalate)

PET may be present in its molecular structure either as an amorphous or semi-crystalline thermoplastic resin, the amorphous type being crystal clear and showing lower mechanical strength and significantly poorer sliding behaviour than the semi-crystalline one.

In contrast, the semi-crystalline types have a high hardness, rigidity and strength with excellent sliding behaviour and low sliding wear.

Due to the good creep resistance, low moisture absorption and excellent dimensional stability, PET is excellent for use in complex parts with high demands on the dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

Modification options

Ertalyte®-TX, light gray is a poly ethylene terephthalate-based material with a homogeneously dispersed built-in solid lubricant. The specific formulation makes Ertalyte®-TX into a unique self-lubricating bearing material. Not only does Ertalyte®-TX have a very high level of wear resistance, it also offers an even lower sliding friction coefficient and higher dynamic load capacity (PV limit value) compared to PET.

Ertalyte®-TX proves to be particularly effective under high pressure and speed conditions. The material is also ideal for applications where soft metal and plastic surfaces meet. Ertalyte®-TX is an EU / 10/2011, FDA, USDA and 3A Dairy compliant material.

PET-GLS, natural is a material with a similar appearance as Ertalyte®-TX.
