PA 6 C (polyamide 6 cast)
PA 6 C is a particularly high molecular weight, highly crystalline thermoplastic.
In the pressureless casting process, a controlled chemical reaction in special molds polymerizes caprolactam directly into semi-finished products. Additives, such as oil, solid lubricants or heat stabilizers, allow the typical properties of cast polyamide to be specifically aligned and adapted for certain applications. A tailored range of materials is thus available for a broad field of applications.
Properties
The properties of PA 6 C are:- high mechanical strength and rigidity
- toughness at high hardness
- good wear properties
- good heat ageing resistance
- very high wear resistance
- very good sliding and emergency running properties
- almost free from internal stress
- high resistance to high-energy radiation (gamma and X-radiation)
- good electrical insulation properties
- high mechanical damping capacity
- good machinability
